Harlan “Bill” Kriete Founder and Donna Kriete Co-Founder
Bill graduated from Tri-State University (now Trine University) in 1974 and started his career as an electrical engineer and project manager at a local communications company. In his many site visits with that company he saw an emerging need for quality security systems within healthcare, educational, industrial and government facilities. Bill formed Williams Electronics in 1985 with corporate offices in Angola, Indiana.
Bill accepted nothing less than excellence in sales, installation and customer service. He loved to get his hands dirty and thought nothing of showing up on a jobsite to check the work or help finish a project.
Bill was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2009. He managed the business and knew what was going on with each project during his illness, and he continued to stop by project sites to check on them. Bill passed away in 2011, but the employees of Williams Electronics continue to uphold the high standard that Bill created. Throughout the years, Williams collected a crew of dedicated employees that shared the vision Bill had established.
Donna worked alongside Bill when Williams was founded. Despite having a full-time job as laboratory director at a local hospital, most nights, evenings and weekends were devoted to developing Williams Electronics. In 2002, Donna became full time at Williams and continued to grow the company with Bill.
After Bill’s passing, Donna took over leadership of Williams and continued to expand the company while maintaining the same expectations of quality and service that Bill had introduced. Under her direction, Williams opened two additional offices to better accommodate customers.
Donna once said, “Our employees have always been our biggest asset. Because of their continued commitment to excellent service, Williams Electronics has become known as a leader in security systems”.
Bill and Donna were blessed with 45 years of marriage, two daughters, two sons (by marriage) and four grandchildren. Donna continues to reside in Angola, Indiana, the birthplace of Williams Electronics.
